Terms of Service
Last updated: 26 April 2026 (raised minimum age to 18 following Apple age-rating system change)
Welcome to FarmAsk. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the FarmAsk mobile application ("App," "Service," or "Platform"). By creating an account and using FarmAsk, you agree to these Terms.
1. About FarmAsk
FarmAsk is a farming advice platform that uses artificial intelligence to provide personalized guidance to farmers and agricultural professionals. The platform delivers practical farming guidance via a mobile app.
What We Provide
- AI-generated farming advice and guidance
- Personalized responses based on your farm profile
- Text, voice, and photo messaging capabilities
- Conversation history and farm profile management
- Optional Farm Notebook feature to personalize advice
Important: FarmAsk provides general farming guidance only. It is not a substitute for professional veterinary, agronomic, or financial advice. Responses are AI-generated and may contain errors. You are solely responsible for actions taken based on this information.
2. Eligibility and Age Attestation
You must be at least 18 years old to use FarmAsk. At onboarding you will be asked to affirmatively confirm you are 18 or older. Ticking this confirmation is a contractual representation. By ticking it you confirm that:
- You are 18 years or older
- You have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms
- All information you provide is accurate and truthful
Providing a false age confirmation is a violation of these Terms and grounds for immediate account termination. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will delete the account and all associated data. We do not collect or store your date of birth — only a timestamp proving that you gave the age confirmation.
3. Account Registration
Creating an Account
You can register using:
- Email and password
- Apple Sign In
Your Responsibilities
- Keep your login credentials secure
- Notify us immediately if your account is compromised
- You are responsible for all activity under your account
- Do not share your account with others
- Provide accurate and up-to-date information
Account Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that:
- Violate these Terms
- Engage in abusive or fraudulent behavior
- Misuse the Service or attempt to circumvent usage limits

7. Usage Limits & Fair Use
Free Plan Limits

- Exceeding the limit requires upgrading to Pro
Fair Use Policy
Even with unlimited Pro access, we reserve the right to limit usage that:

9. AI-Generated Content
Nature of AI Advice
All farming advice is generated by artificial intelligence and should be used as guidance only, not professional advice.
Important Disclaimers
- Not Professional Advice: AI responses are not a substitute for professional agricultural, veterinary, legal, or financial advice
- No Guarantees: We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of AI-generated advice
- Use Your Judgment: Always apply your own knowledge, experience, and judgment
- Regional Variations: Advice may not account for all local regulations or conditions
- Verify Critical Decisions: Consult qualified professionals for important decisions
Any price, margin, or financial information provided by FarmAsk is for informational purposes only and does not constitute financial advice. Always consult a qualified financial advisor before making business decisions.
Your Responsibility
You are solely responsible for:
- How you use the information provided
- Verifying advice with qualified professionals when needed
- Complying with local laws and regulations
- Any outcomes resulting from following AI advice
10. Farm Notebook Feature
What It Is
Farm Notebook is an optional, opt-in feature that learns farming-related facts from your conversations to provide more personalized advice.
How It Works
- OFF by default — you must enable it
- Stores short factual statements about your operation (e.g. livestock numbers, crop types, field sizes, equipment)
- Used only to personalize your future advice
- Each fact is linked to your account and is personal data — never sold, never shared outside the sub-processors needed to generate your advice
Your Control
- Turn on/off anytime
- View all stored facts
- Edit any fact
- Delete individual facts or all facts at once
- When OFF, facts aren't used but remain accessible for you to manage
Data Use
- Only farming-related information is stored
- No personal information is collected
- Never sold or shared with third parties
- Deleted when you delete your account
See our Privacy Policy for full details.
11. Anonymous Farming Intelligence (Optional, Opt-In)
FarmAsk has an optional feature that collects anonymised, aggregated data about farming conditions discussed in conversations — for example, regional disease pressure, pest reports, market prices, or weather damage.
This feature is OFF by default. You must explicitly turn it on in Settings → Privacy → Help improve FarmAsk to enable extraction. You can turn it off again at any time.
When enabled:
- Reports are stripped of all personal, financial, and identifying information at extraction time
- Only country and region (at county or state level) are recorded
- Reports are aggregated — individual reports are not surfaced
- A one-way hash prevents duplicate counting and is deleted after 7 days
- Data cannot be linked back to you or your farm
Examples of data collected:
- "5 reports of wheat rust in South East England this week"
- "Slug damage increasing in East Anglia"
- "Frost damage reported in North Yorkshire"
By turning on this feature you acknowledge that anonymised, non-identifiable data about farming conditions may be extracted from your conversations and used for multiple purposes:
- Improving FarmAsk's advice quality and regional insight features for all users
- Publishing aggregated trend reports to benefit the wider farming community (blog posts, newsletters, in-app trend features)
- Sharing or licensing aggregated datasets with research institutions, universities, and government agricultural bodies (APHA, Defra, AHDB, USDA, Rothamsted, etc.) for research, policy development, and disease surveillance
- Licensing aggregated datasets to commercial partners — including agricultural input companies, insurers, and research-focused businesses — under appropriate contractual terms. Commercial licensing supports FarmAsk's continued development and may become a source of revenue for the service.
All external sharing and licensing is subject to strict aggregation thresholds (minimum 5 reports per country and topic, or 10 per region), statistical disclosure control, and county-or-broader geographic resolution. No commercial partner ever receives row-level data, personal data, or information that could identify you or your farm. See the Privacy Policy §6 "Data Sharing and Licensing" for full detail.
Daily detail is stored for 12 months then summarised into yearly trends. Yearly summaries are kept indefinitely to identify long-term patterns (e.g. recurring seasonal disease outbreaks). No personal data is retained at any stage.
Important — what cannot be undone: because anonymous intelligence reports contain no user identifier of any kind, we cannot retroactively identify or remove reports extracted while the feature was enabled. Disabling the feature stops future extraction but does not (and cannot) delete previously-extracted reports. That is inherent to the anonymisation model. If that trade-off isn't right for you, leave the feature off.
12. Reporting Problematic AI Content
If you believe an AI response is harmful, inaccurate, offensive, dangerous, or violates your or another person's privacy, you can report it directly from the chat screen. Tap the menu on any AI message and choose "Report this response", then select a reason and (optionally) add details.
We aim to review all reports within 24 hours. Depending on severity, we may:
- Adjust the underlying system prompt
- Contact you for more information
- Remove or hide the offending response
- Update our moderation rules
- In rare cases, escalate to the relevant authority
Repeated bad-faith or abusive reporting (for example spamming the reporting system) may result in account suspension. We maintain an audit trail of reports as part of our Apple App Store content moderation obligations.
13. Notifiable Animal Disease and Statutory Reporting
FarmAsk includes a safety feature for notifiable animal disease. When you describe symptoms that could indicate a disease on your country's notifiable list (including but not limited to foot-and-mouth disease, BSE, bluetongue, African swine fever, avian influenza, anthrax, bovine tuberculosis, brucellosis, and Newcastle disease), the AI is instructed to place a prominent warning at the top of its response and direct you to the statutory veterinary authority for your jurisdiction:
- England: Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) — 03000 200 301
- Scotland: APHA Scotland field services — 03000 200 301
- Wales: APHA Wales — 0300 303 8268
- Northern Ireland: DAERA — 0300 200 7840
- Republic of Ireland: DAFM — local Regional Veterinary Office
- United States: USDA APHIS — 1-866-536-7593, or your State Veterinarian
- Canada: CFIA — nearest CFIA district office
- Australia: Emergency Animal Disease Watch Hotline — 1800 675 888
- New Zealand: MPI — 0800 80 99 66
- Any other country: your national veterinary authority or OIE-WOAH delegate
Your legal duty
In most jurisdictions you have a legal duty to report suspected notifiable disease to the statutory authority. Suspicion alone triggers this duty — you do not need a confirmed diagnosis. Failure to report is a criminal offence in many jurisdictions, including the UK (under the Animal Health Act 1981 and the Specified Diseases (Notification) Order 2008).
FarmAsk is not a substitute
FarmAsk is not a substitute for statutory notification. A vet referral alone is not a substitute either. Even if you have contacted a vet, you or your vet must make the statutory notification. We include the warnings as a safety net, not as legal advice.
14. Intellectual Property
Our Rights
FarmAsk, including all content, features, and functionality, is owned by us and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
Your Rights
You retain ownership of:
- Questions and messages you send

- Third-party actions or content
- Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages

23. Account Deletion & Data Removal
How to Delete Your Account
You can permanently delete your account anytime:
- Open FarmAsk
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to Account section
- Tap "Delete Account"
- Confirm deletion (requires two confirmations)
What Gets Deleted
When you delete your account, we permanently remove:
- Your account and profile (including the age-attestation timestamp)
- All conversations and messages
- All Farm Notebook facts
- Your farm profile data
- Content reports you filed
- Cached data and rate-limit counters
We also make a best-effort request to RevenueCat to delete your subscriber record. All personal data in our own database is permanently deleted within 30 days of your deletion request — most of it within seconds.
What Cannot Be Deleted
- Anonymous intelligence reports extracted while the opt-in feature was enabled — these contain no user identifier and therefore cannot be traced back to your account in order to delete them. This is by design and is the basis on which that data is anonymous under GDPR.
- Yearly aggregated intelligence summaries, for the same reason.
- Third-party logs (short-term Sentry error records, RevenueCat purchase history, Apple billing records) are subject to those providers' retention policies, typically 30–90 days.
Important: Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription. You must cancel separately through iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
24. Third-Party Services
FarmAsk integrates with a number of third-party sub-processors. The full list and what each one receives is documented in our Privacy Policy.
Apple App Store & In-App Purchases
- Subscriptions are processed through Apple
- Apple's Terms of Service apply to purchases
- Refunds are handled through Apple, not FarmAsk
AI Service Providers
- Anthropic (Claude) — generates farming advice
- OpenAI (Whisper) — transcribes voice notes
- Under our commercial agreements with both providers, your prompts and responses are not used to train their models
RevenueCat
- Manages subscription state and syncs with Apple
- Processes limited subscription data
Infrastructure and Support Services
- Supabase — database and authentication hosting (EU Frankfurt)
- Brevo — transactional email for password reset
- Sentry — error and performance tracking (passwords, tokens, and uploaded media are scrubbed before transmission)
25. Export Controls
You may not use FarmAsk in any country subject to UK or international export restrictions or embargoes.
26. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full effect.
